“You MUST plant this in April”… or what?

This is a bit of an add-on to my previous post 😉
Every spring it starts. You open YouTube and suddenly everything feels urgent. “Plant this NOW.” “Do this in April or you’ll miss your chance.” And somehow something that’s supposed to be relaxing turns into pressure.
And you sit there thinking… wait, am I already behind?
The thing is, those videos aren’t wrong. They’re just not about your garden. April means completely different things depending on where you are. Warm coastal soil is not the same as cold nights in the hills. Even year to year, it changes.
But when someone says “must,” it messes with your head a bit.
So instead of asking “what should I plant this month,” I’ve started asking something much simpler. What actually works in my garden right now? Is the soil warm enough? Are the nights still cold? That’s what the plants care about.
And honestly, if you “miss April,” nothing dramatic happens. May comes around, the soil warms up, things grow faster, and suddenly you’re not behind at all.
So yeah, watch the videos, get inspired. Just don’t let them stress you out. Gardening isn’t about hitting perfect dates. It’s about working with what’s happening outside your door.
That’s all of my little rant! 😉
